This ancient shamanic tradition of healing involves working with what has become a modern day epidemic, that of soul loss. Soul Retrieval is an ancient cross-cultural healing technique that has been utilized by shamans since the beginning of humankind. Restoration of this technique and practice into contemporary society has been developed by modern-day shaman Sandra Ingerman, because we otherwise find ourselves living in a culture devoid of care for the soul or the soul’s yearnings.
Almost all, if not all of us have experienced soul loss just through the rigors of living a full and hectic life. Painful or traumatic experiences such as divorce, death of loved ones, war, famine, surgery, ridicule, unhealthy relationships, physical or emotional abuse, accidents etc., can cause soul loss. Soul loss is actually a survival mechanism: during a painful or jarring event, a piece of our soul – our essence, our inner light – escapes to protect its integrity. From the shamanic perspective it wanders into other realms or realities.
This intensive training in soul retrieval includes teachings, study and experiential work and shamanic practice, ritual and ceremony. In this five-day training you will explore the nature of soul loss from the shamanic perspective, and learn how partial soul loss or the fragmentation of the soul can result from personal trauma and illness. You will learn how to track and restore the fragmented or lost soul part(s) as well as tending to the yearnings and needs of the soul in general. We will also focus on "life after soul retrieval": how to create healthier lives after the healing has taken place. This will be accomplished through shamanic journeying and ritual.
Susan McClellan has been doing soul retrievals for over 10 years and is one of Sandra Ingerman’s recommended teachers. Susan has worked with and studied core and cross-cultural shamans for the last fifteen years.
